Termites

Termites

Termites are wood-destroying insects capable of severely damaging a home’s structural timbers, including posts, floor supports, ceiling supports, subfloors and wall studs. Termites also can damage non-structural components, including drywall paperboard, paneling, carpet and furniture.

The most common species to infest and damage homes in the U.S. are drywood and formosan termites. These wood-destroying insects can live in the soil underground (subterranean and Formosan species) and inside wooden structures. Formosan termites also can build nests inside the walls of homes, called cartons. There is also a new HYBRID termite that came to the U.S. from Asia.

Termites are often called “silent destroyers,” since they can thrive inside your home without noticeable signs of damage. Unfortunately, once termite activity is visible, your home may have already sustained significant damage from these pests.

To help protect your home, contact PESTDEPOT.COM to provide annual inspections and treatment, when necessary. We have trained experts know all about termites, including their biology, behavior, signs of activity and prevention and control techniques.

In between service visits, make sure to monitor any unusual signs of pest activity around your home, including common warning signs for a termite infestation like swarms, mud tubes, and discarded wings.

  1. Yes. Free Estimates!!!
  2. Clients MUST have an Estimate so that we can inspect the area for termites and work with the client to choose the best treatment for their needs.
  3. Treatments: The people need to have an estimate so that the technician can determine what the best treatment is going to be. All areas showing evidence of on infestation are documented. Then the technicians backtrack to determine what route the termites took to reach all areas of infestation. Areas of infestation on the interior of a structure are injected with a product called Phantom. This pesticide has transfer effect and spreads from one termite to another and back to the main colony. Areas of infestation on the exterior or attic are injected with Termidor which also has transfer effect. Areas adjacent to and surrounding areas of infestation are treated with a foam material called Boricare. Which penetrates the wood and leaves a very long lasting residual turning wood into pretreated lumber. Areas of attic and crawl space are treated with a dust material called Timbor using a dust blowing machine which puts electrostatic charge on the particles to carry them into cracks and crevices where termites live or may at a later or at a later point to try to establish colonies. We often recommend this treatment because then our clients will not have to vacate their homes or places of business and they will not have to prepare their homes or offices to be tented.
